still finishing the book
All of the Book of Goddesses color art is now finished, and has been for about a week. I’m now waiting to hear back from my editor regarding any last text edits. There’s just a few more threads remaining. And then that’s it.
It’s strange to be so very close to the end. I feel like I’ve already moved on in a way to the next project at hand, which is the promotion of The Lover’s Path. I know I mentioned earlier that there will be a launch party at Vox Pop on November 12th, at 7:30pm. I’m still waiting to receive the full color invitations from the printer, which is a little frustrating; I had planned to have them all mailed by now. If they don’t arrive in time, I may have to resort to e-mailing people to save the date. I hate to do this — seems so ad hoc. But better that then to end up with a sparsely-attended event, right?
In my next update, I’ll post some of the new art from the new-and-improved Book of Goddesses.
new season, same old
New page, new season. But it’s the same old, same old — I’m still in the midst of finishing up the last few pieces of art for The Book of Goddesses. And, to be perfectly frank, I’m overwhelmed. It’s the usual situation of the closer I get to the end of a project, the further away the end feels. (Why is that?)
Right now, I’m working on art for Oshun, Sophia, Aditi, and Haumea. There are approximately 65 pieces done — and now I’m on the last few, excepting a few spot sketches. Yet this feels endless.
In other news, plans are going forward for Venice in Brooklyn. I’m also thinking about how I’d like to streamline all of Art and Words, to make it more user-friendly, as well as more profitable. I hate to be so crass as to think of making money, but while I do make art for love, I also need to make a living at it. Otherwise, there’s no time to make art or anything else. It’s time to create more passive streams of income, especially now that I have this little one to think of. And I have to the urge to change the site to reflect my new role as a mother.
I probably won’t be posting again until I finish The Book of Goddesses – hopefully sooner rather than later. In the meantime, check out this artist’s site and journal. Ironically, her name is Chris Miller (which is my married name). Also, check out Lisa Hunt’s beautiful new Animals Divine Tarot. Lisa is a dear friend of mine; I was honored to write the introduction for her latest magnum opus.
I’ll see you all on the other side of this book!
