What a wonderful post and totally believe that you have to love yourself first before you can love anyone else.

On a regular basis my husband and I “treat” ourselves by having “dates” where we indulge each other with good food, wine, music, art and sometimes movies. Sometimes we go out…but mainly we have at home “carpet picnics” and I’ve actually gone out and bought china and chrystal or floor pillows for these special date nights.

About four years ago, I took a class at a cooking school in France. The school was located in a chateau that dated from the late 1500’s. The exquisitely landscaped grounds sloped down to a canal. Walking them made me feel very royal, indeed.

Silverlotus, I feel like I’m only now catching up on sleep — and my daughter is almost five! Sleep is crucial.

Melissa, glad you liked Donna’s post. Her book is really wonderful. Though it’s targeted toward mid-life transitions, there’s great advice for all ages, I think.

Jenn, your trip sounds blissful! I’ve only been in Birmingham once, to see the Burne-Jones at the museum. I wish I had more time to explore it.

Loved the entry!

I was in the UK last summer and I took myself to Birmingham for a weekend. Treated myself with some excellent seats to see the ballet, indulged in delicious food and drink at the International Festival, and literally bounced around the city in the rain, listening to music on my iPod. Blissful!
