Saturday, February 6, 2010 – 1 to 3 pm CHILDREN’S PICTURE BOOKS: Ever wondered what’s involved in creating a children’s picture book—and getting it published? This workshop demystifies the process, taking you from inspiration to publication. THIS WORKSHOP IS FILLED. |

Saturday, March 27, 2010 – 1 to 3 pm PUBLISHING 101 This entry level class offers a comprehensive overview of the publishing industry. Topics covered include manuscript submissions, book proposals, literary agents, self-publishing, book acquisitions, and marketing. THIS WORKSHOP IS FILLED. |
 Publishing workshops are taught by Kris Waldherr. Kris has over twenty years of publishing experience on both sides of the editorial desk. She began her publishing career as a children’s book designer at a major New York publishing house. As an author, illustrator, and designer, Kris has created numerous illustrated publications for children and adults, ranging from children’s picture books to tarot decks. She is also a successful iPhone app developer and writes extensively about publishing and creativity on her blog. |

SUMMER 2010 WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN

ArtHouse is offering summer workshops at Kris Waldherr Art and Words for kids of all ages! Taught by Lizzy LeBlanc. Lizzy was trained as a fine artist at School of Visual Arts and later earned an MS in art education from Pratt Institute. She taught art in a public school in Brooklyn for seven years in addition to teaching Saturday classes at Pratt Institute and Staten Island’s Snug Harbor. 1. make it! Kindergarteners to 5th graders make all kinds of fun art! Puppets, sculpture, painting and much more. 2. art adventures Children entering 6th-8th grades visit a different major art museum every day and make art that relates to what we are viewing.
